A 30-year-old man, Musbawu Amodu, has been arrested by the Nasarawa State Police Command for allegedly beating his 20-year-old wife to death following a domestic dispute in Agyaragu, Obi Local Government Area of the state.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, the incident occurred in the Angwan Yahaya area after the suspect allegedly became angry when his wife refused to prepare a meal. He was arrested after a report was filed at the Agyaragu Police Division.
Police said the suspect admitted that an argument with his wife escalated into a physical confrontation, during which she sustained fatal injuries.
The deceased is survived by two children—a boy and a girl—from the couple's six-year marriage.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Nasarawa State, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, condemned the killing, describing it as a tragic and preventable act. He reiterated the command's commitment to tackling domestic violence and ensuring that anyone found guilty faces the full weight of the law.
Police said investigations are ongoing, and the suspect will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
