Islamic Teacher Killed in Bauchi After Dispute Over Political Posters

A respected Islamic teacher, Malam Rilwanu Dauda, 42, was allegedly stabbed to death in Bauchi State following a dispute over political posters.

The incident occurred on Sunday in the Karofin Madaki area of Bauchi metropolis after Dauda reportedly asked two suspected political thugs to remove campaign posters pasted near his family home. The disagreement escalated into a fight before one of the suspects allegedly returned with a knife and stabbed him in the stomach.

Dauda was rushed to the Bauchi State Specialist Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Family members described the deceased as a peaceful and humble Islamiyyah teacher who rarely engaged in conflicts. They called on security agencies to arrest those responsible and ensure justice is served.

Residents of the community expressed shock over the killing, describing Dauda as a respected cleric known for his kindness, generosity, and dedication to religious teaching.

Bauchi State Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed visited the bereaved family to offer condolences. He pledged to sponsor the education of the late teacher's children from primary school through university and assured the family that those responsible would face justice.

The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed that an investigation is underway and vowed to arrest all those involved in the killing. Authorities also appealed to members of the public to provide useful information that could assist in the investigation.

A retired Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Wakil, attributed the growing incidence of violent crimes among youths to drug abuse, poor moral upbringing, illiteracy, and other social challenges, urging communities to promote good values and cooperate with security agencies to curb crime.
