An Enugu Air aircraft veered off the runway after landing at Benin Airport on Wednesday, prompting an emergency response and a temporary disruption of flight operations.
The airline confirmed that all passengers and crew members were safely evacuated, with no injuries or fatalities recorded.
In a statement, Enugu Air said the aircraft had been secured and the relevant aviation authorities were immediately notified. The airline added that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the runway excursion.
The incident may lead to temporary changes to some flight schedules, and affected passengers will be contacted directly and assisted accordingly.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has launched a formal investigation into the incident. According to the agency, the Embraer E170 aircraft, operating Flight 4264 from Lagos to Benin, overran the end of Runway 05 during landing.
NSIB said its investigation team arrived at the scene shortly after the incident to collect evidence, inspect the aircraft and runway, and interview the flight crew and other relevant personnel.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and airport authorities have also been notified as the investigation continues.
Enugu Air reassured the public that the safety of its passengers and crew remains its top priority and promised to provide further updates through its official communication channels.
