The Arewa Think Tank has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to allow recent allegations involving his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, to influence decisions about his administration.
Speaking to journalists in Kaduna, the group's convener, Muhammad Alhaji Yakubu, described the controversy surrounding the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) as politically motivated. He urged Nigerians to rely on verified information instead of speculation.
Yakubu said prominent supporters of the President often face allegations whenever they are perceived to be assuming more significant national responsibilities. He cited similar controversies involving former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, during discussions about preparations for the 2027 general elections.
He advised President Tinubu to remain focused on governance and avoid being distracted by political controversies.
The group also welcomed the Presidency's clarification on the matter. According to a statement issued by the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the PFIPC is not a recognized government agency, and Gbajabiamila has no role in authorizing appointments or issuing official correspondence on behalf of the organization.
The Presidency also dismissed reports claiming that Gbajabiamila was facing removal from office, reaffirming that he remains the President's Chief of Staff.
Yakubu said the official clarification should help address public concerns and urged political actors to avoid spreading unverified claims capable of undermining public confidence in democratic institutions.
The Presidency has maintained that the PFIPC is not part of the Federal Government and has reiterated its support for Gbajabiamila amid the ongoing controversy.
