Israeli drone strikes on tents sheltering displaced Palestinians in the al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis, southern Gaza, have killed at least two Palestinians, including a young girl, and injured several others.
Medical sources said the attack targeted two makeshift tents on Saturday, leaving four people wounded. Gaza’s Civil Defence reported that rescue teams recovered seven injured people from the site and transferred them to Nasser Hospital and the Red Cross Hospital.
The attack comes despite a ceasefire agreement that had designated parts of southern Gaza, including al-Mawasi, as safe areas for displaced civilians.
A 10-year-old Palestinian child also died from injuries sustained in a previous Israeli bombardment in southern Gaza, according to medical officials.
Gaza officials say Israeli attacks have continued since the ceasefire, with drone activity and air raids increasing in several areas.
A recent United Nations report raised concerns over the killing of children in Gaza, stating that children account for a significant percentage of those killed since the war began in October 2023.
Gaza’s Health Ministry says more than 73,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 173,000 wounded since the start of the war, while thousands more casualties have been reported after the October 2025 ceasefire.
