At least one person was killed and nine others were hospitalized following a shooting incident in Midland, Texas, on Friday morning, according to local authorities.
Officials said the suspected gunman was later found dead after a lengthy standoff with police. The incident triggered a major emergency response and led to road closures across parts of the city.
Witnesses reported hearing dozens of gunshots as the violence unfolded. Authorities have not yet released details about the motive behind the attack.
Midland Memorial Hospital confirmed that four victims required surgery, while five others were listed in stable condition.
In a statement, city officials said the immediate threat had been eliminated but warned that the area would remain under investigation for an extended period.
Midland Mayor Lori Blong expressed sympathy for those affected, saying the community's thoughts were with the victims and their families as they recover from the tragedy.
