A senior commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned that any new US military action against Iran would trigger a strong and extended retaliation, including strikes on American naval forces.
Brigadier General Seyyed Majid Mousavi, commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force, issued the warning in response to reports that the United States is considering a “short and intense” military campaign targeting Iranian infrastructure.
“You have already seen what happened to your bases in the region; your warships will face the same fate,” Mousavi said.
The warning comes as reports suggest that US President Donald Trump is reviewing new military options presented by US Central Command (CENTCOM), led by Admiral Brad Cooper. These options reportedly include targeted strikes on Iran, as well as more aggressive plans such as taking control of parts of the Strait of Hormuz to secure shipping routes.
Another proposal mentioned involves deploying special forces to secure Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium.
Trump has also reportedly considered a naval blockade of Iran, describing it as potentially more effective than direct bombing, although military action remains under consideration if diplomatic efforts fail.
Iranian officials say the country previously carried out weeks of retaliatory strikes against US and Israeli targets following attacks on Iranian territory. They insist that any new aggression would be met with “painful and far-reaching” consequences.
Additional warnings from IRGC officials indicate that Iran could deploy advanced and previously undisclosed military capabilities, including “smart targeting” systems, against US forces.
Iran’s Navy Commander, Rear Admiral Shahram Irani, also hinted that the country may soon unveil a new weapon that adversaries would find difficult to counter.
Tensions remain high following the breakdown of ceasefire talks and ongoing disputes over maritime security, particularly in strategic waterways such as the Strait of Hormuz.
