Iran has issued a stern warning to foreign military forces, particularly those of the United States, against approaching or entering the strategic Strait of Hormuz, emphasizing that any such move would prompt a forceful response.
According to Major General Ali Abdollahi, commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, the country’s armed forces maintain full authority over the security of the vital maritime route. He stressed that all vessels must coordinate with Iranian forces before transiting the area.
Abdollahi criticized what he described as recent actions by the United States Armed Forces, accusing them of engaging in destabilizing activities in international waters that could threaten global trade and economic stability.
He further warned that Iran would respond decisively to any perceived threat, stating that any hostile actions would be met with a “severe and regret-inducing response.” He also urged commercial ships and oil tankers to avoid entering the waterway without prior approval, cautioning that failure to comply could put them at risk.
The remarks come after Donald Trump stated that the United States intends to ensure the free movement of ships through the strait, suggesting that operations toward that goal could begin immediately.
Tensions in the region have escalated in recent months. Since late February, Iran has reportedly restricted access to the strait for vessels linked to the United States and Israel, as part of broader security measures.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical النفط transit chokepoints, with a significant portion of global oil shipments passing through it daily, making any disruption a matter of international concern.
