Arabic:
اللّهُمَّ أَنتَ رَبِّي لا إلهَ إلا أَنتَ، عَلَيْكَ تَوَكَّلْتُ، وَأَنتَ رَبُّ العَرْشِ العَظِيمِ، أَسْتَغِيثُ بِكَ مِن كُلِّ ضِيقٍ وَمَشَقَّةٍ
Transliteration:
Allahumma anta Rabbi la ilaha illa anta, ‘alayka tawakkaltu, wa anta Rabbul-‘Arshil-‘Azim, astaghithu bika min kulli diqin wa mashaqah
English Meaning:
"O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no deity except You. I rely upon You, and You are the Lord of the Mighty Throne. I seek Your help from every hardship and difficulty."
Explanation
1. Acknowledging Allah as the Only Lord.
Saying “La ilaha illa anta” affirms the oneness of Allah and reminds us that only He can truly help.
2. Reliance on Allah (Tawakkul).
‘Alayka tawakkaltu (“I rely upon You”) shows complete trust that Allah’s support is sufficient, especially in urgent situations.
3. Recognizing Allah’s Power and Authority.
Mentioning “Rabbul-‘Arshil-‘Azim” (Lord of the Mighty Throne) highlights Allah’s supreme authority over all creation, which strengthens the sincerity of your plea.
4. Seeking Immediate Relief.
“Astaghithu bika min kulli diqin wa mashaqah” literally means asking Allah to relieve you from all forms of distress, difficulty, or pressing problems.
