Ayatul Kursi (Ayat al-Kursi) Translation

Ayatul Kursi is one of the most العظيم (greatest) verses in the Qur’an, found in Al-Baqarah (2:255). It is highly valued in Islam for its deep meaning about Allah’s nature, power, and authority.

This verse is a powerful declaration of Tawheed (the Oneness of Allah). It explains that:

Allah alone deserves worship

He is eternal, self-sustaining, and independent.

Everything in existence depends on Him.

اللَّهُ لَا إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ ۚ لَا تَأْخُذُهُ سِنَةٌ وَلَا نَوْمٌ ۚ لَّهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ ۗ مَن ذَا الَّذِي يَشْفَعُ عِندَهُ إِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِ ۚ يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ ۖ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِشَيْءٍ مِّنْ عِلْمِهِ إِلَّا بِمَا شَاءَ ۚ وَسِعَ كُرْسِيُّهُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ ۖ وَلَا يَؤُودُهُ حِفْظُهُمَا ۚ وَهُوَ الْعَلِيُّ الْعَظِيمُ

English Translation

Allah—there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is behind them, and they encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and preserving them does not tire Him. And He is the Most High, the Most Great.

Urdu Translation

اللہ، اس کے سوا کوئی معبود نہیں، وہ زندہ ہے، سب کو قائم رکھنے والا ہے۔ اسے نہ اونگھ آتی ہے نہ نیند۔ جو کچھ آسمانوں میں ہے اور جو کچھ زمین میں ہے سب اسی کا ہے۔ کون ہے جو اس کی اجازت کے بغیر اس کے پاس سفارش کر سکے؟ وہ جانتا ہے جو کچھ لوگوں کے سامنے ہے اور جو کچھ ان کے پیچھے ہے، اور وہ اس کے علم میں سے کسی چیز کا احاطہ نہیں کر سکتے مگر جتنا وہ چاہے۔ اس کی کرسی آسمانوں اور زمین پر محیط ہے، اور ان کی حفاظت اسے نہیں تھکاتی، اور وہی بلند و برتر عظمت والا ہے۔

Brief Explanation

It emphasizes Allah’s absolute oneness (Tawheed)

Declares His complete knowledge and power

Shows His control over the universe

Reminds that nothing happens without His permission.
