Three civilians have been confirmed dead following an attack on a military-escorted convoy in northern Ghana.
The incident occurred on Monday in Binduri, within the Upper East Region, where armed assailants opened fire on a convoy transporting civilians from Bawku to Bolgatanga under military protection.
According to the Ghana Armed Forces, the convoy was carrying about 140 passengers when it came under heavy gunfire. Three civilians were killed in the attack, while another sustained injuries.
Troops escorting the convoy reportedly engaged the attackers and managed to repel them. Security sources indicated that some of the assailants were neutralized, while others were arrested during the operation.
Authorities have since condemned the attack and reaffirmed their commitment to restoring calm in the troubled Bawku area, urging residents to support ongoing security efforts.
