A Very Important Lesson from Maryam (AS) – Mufti Menk

A Very Important Lesson from Maryam (AS) – Mufti Menk

One of the most powerful lessons from the life of Maryam (peace be upon her), often emphasized by Mufti Menk, is the importance of trusting Allah completely, especially during hardship, isolation, and misunderstanding.

Maryam (AS) was chosen by Allah for a unique and عظیم test — to give birth to Prophet Isa (AS) without a father. This was not only a physical challenge but also a social and emotional trial, as people would question her honor and integrity. Imagine facing such a situation alone, without anyone to defend you.

Yet, despite the شدت (severity) of her trial, Maryam (AS) remained patient, chaste, and firm in her faith. When she withdrew from people and felt overwhelmed, Allah reminded her that He had not abandoned her. Even when she cried out in pain and wished she had been forgotten, Allah provided for her — giving her food, water, and comfort in miraculous ways.

Key Lessons:
1. Trust Allah even when things don’t make sense
Sometimes life puts us in situations we cannot explain or defend. Like Maryam (AS), we must remember that Allah’s plan is always perfect, even if الناس don’t understand.

2. Your reputation is in Allah’s hands
People may accuse, misunderstand, or judge unfairly. Maryam (AS) did not argue or try to prove herself immediately — Allah Himself cleared her name through a miracle.

3. Patience during hardship brings divine support
When she was in pain and distress, Allah instructed her to shake the palm tree — teaching us that even in difficulty, we must make effort, and Allah will bring the result.

4. Modesty and righteousness elevate your status
Maryam (AS) is one of the greatest women in Islam, honored for her purity, devotion, and obedience to Allah.

5. Allah never abandons the المؤمنين
Even in loneliness, اللہ is always near. His help may come in unexpected ways, but it always comes at the right time.

Conclusion:
The story of Maryam (AS) teaches us that tests are not a sign of Allah’s غضب (anger), but often a sign of His love and انتخاب (selection). When you are going through a difficult time, remember Maryam (AS) — stand firm, stay pure, trust Allah, and know that He will defend you and raise your status in ways you cannot imagine.
