Surah Al-Mulk (Chapter 67) is one of the most powerful Makkan surahs of the Qur’an. It has 30 verses and is often called “Tabarak” (from its opening word). It focuses on Allah’s power, purpose of life, and accountability in the Hereafter.
1
Tabaarakalladhee biyadihil mulku wa huwa ‘alaa kulli shay’in qadeer
Blessed is He in whose hand is dominion, and He is over all things competent.
2
Alladhee khalaqal mawta wal hayaata liyabluwakum ayyukum ahsanu ‘amalaa wa huwal ‘azeezul ghafoor
He created death and life to test you as to which of you is best in deed, and He is the Mighty, the Forgiving.
3
Alladhee khalaqa sab‘a samaawaatin tibaaqaa maa taraa fee khalqir Rahmaani min tafaawut
He created seven heavens in layers; you do not see any inconsistency in the creation of the Most Merciful.
4
Thummarji‘il basara karratayni yanqalib ilaykal basaru khaasi’an wa huwa haseer
Then return your vision twice again; your vision will return humbled while fatigued.
5
Wa laqad zayyannas samaa’ad dunyaa bimaasaabeeha wa ja‘alnaahaa rujoomal lish shayaateen
We have adorned the nearest heaven with lamps and made them missiles for devils.
6
Wa lil ladheena kafaroo birabbihim ‘adhaabu jahannama wa bi’sal maseer
For those who disbelieve in their Lord is the punishment of Hell—and what an evil destination.
7
Izaa ulqoo feehaa sami‘oo lahaa shaheeqan wa hiya tafoor
When they are thrown into it, they hear it roaring as it boils.
8
Takaadu tamayyazu minal ghayz
It almost bursts with rage.
9
Kullamaa ulqiya feehaa fawjun sa’alahum khazanatuhaa alam ya’tikum nadheer
Every time a group is cast into it, its keepers ask, “Did no warner come to you?”
10
Qaaloo balaa qad jaa’anaa nadheerun fakazzabnaa
They will say, “Yes, a warner came to us, but we denied.”
11
Fa‘tarafuu bidhanbihim fasuḥqan li ashaabis sa‘eer
So they will confess their sins—so away with the companions of the Blaze.
12
Innal ladheena yakhshawna rabbahum bil ghaybi lahum maghfiratun wa ajrun kabeer
Indeed, those who fear their Lord unseen will have forgiveness and a great reward.
13
Wa asirroo qawlakum awijharoo bihi innahoo ‘aleemun bidhaatis sudoor
Conceal your speech or declare it; He knows what is in the hearts.
14
Alaa ya‘lamu man khalaq wa huwa allateeful khabeer
Does He who created not know? And He is the Subtle, the All-Aware.
15
Huwalladhee ja‘ala lakumul arda dhaloolan famshoo fee manaakibihaa wa kuloo mir rizqih
He made the earth manageable for you, so walk among its slopes and eat of His provision.
16
A amintum man fis samaa’i an yakhsifa bikumul ard
Do you feel secure that He who is in the heaven will not cause the earth to swallow you?
17
Am amintum man fis samaa’i an yursila ‘alaykum haasiban
Or do you feel secure that He will not send against you a storm?
18
Wa laqad kazzabal ladheena min qablihim fakayfa kaana nakeer
Those before them denied, and how severe was My reproach.
19
Awa lam yaraw ilat tayri fawqahum saffaatin wa yaqbidn
Do they not see the birds above them spreading and folding their wings?
20
Amman haadhaa alladhee huwa jundun lakum yansurukum min doonir Rahmaan
Who is there that could be an army to help you besides the Most Merciful?
21
Amman haadhaa alladhee yarzuqukum in amsaka rizqah
Who could provide for you if He withheld His provision?
22
Afaman yamshi mukibban ‘alaa wajhihi ahdaa amman yamshi sawiyyan ‘alaa siraatim mustaqeem
Is one who walks on his face better guided or one who walks upright on a straight path?
23
Qul huwalladhee ansha’akum wa ja‘ala lakumus sam‘a wal absaar wal af’idah
Say, “It is He who created you and gave you hearing, sight, and hearts.”
24
Qul huwalladhee dhara’akum fil ardi wa ilayhi tuhsharoon
Say, “It is He who spread you on earth, and to Him you will be gathered.”
25
Wa yaqooloona mataa haazal wa‘du in kuntum saadiqeen
They say, “When will this promise be, if you are truthful?”
26
Qul innamal ‘ilmu ‘indallaah
Say, “Knowledge is only with Allah.”
27
Falammaa ra’awhu zulfa sayi’at wujoohulladheena kafaroo
When they see it approaching, the faces of disbelievers will be distressed.
---
28
Qul ara’aytum in ahlakaniyallahu wa man ma‘iya aw rahimanaa
Say, “If Allah destroys me and those with me or has mercy on us…”
---
29
Qul huwar Rahmaanu aamannaa bihi wa ‘alayhi tawakkalnaa
Say, “He is the Most Merciful; we believe in Him and rely upon Him.”
30
Qul ara’aytum in asbaha maa’ukum ghawran faman ya’teekum bimaa’in ma‘een
