Suratul Humazah (Chapter 104 of the Quran) teaches important moral lessons about how Muslims should behave toward others and how they should view wealth.
Suratul Humazah teaches that good character, respect for others, and remembering the accountability of the Hereafter are more valuable than wealth and pride.
1. Avoid Backbiting and Mockery.
The surah warns against speaking ill of others, mocking them, or insulting them. Such behavior damages relationships and is strongly condemned in Islam.
2. Do Not Obsess Over Wealth.
It criticizes people who spend all their time collecting and counting wealth, thinking that money will make them live forever or give them ultimate security.
3. Wealth Cannot Save a Person.
The surah reminds us that riches cannot protect a person from death or from Allah’s judgment in the Hereafter.
4. Accountability in the Hereafter.
Those who harm others with their words and arrogance will face severe punishment in the Hereafter.
5. The Reality of Hellfire.
The surah describes a terrifying punishment called Al-Hutamah, a crushing fire that reaches the hearts, emphasizing the seriousness of such sins.
6. Encouragement for Good Character.
Muslims are encouraged to develop humility, kindness, and respect for others rather than arrogance and cruelty.
